〈메테오리움〉은 상파울루 피나코테카에서 처음 공개된 회화적 건축 구조에서 출발하여, 이후 실험적 영화로 확장된 작업으로, 전시 공간을 배경으로 삼는 일련의 영상 작업 계보에 속합니다.

메테오리움은 날씨로부터 몸을 보호하는 집이 아니라, 기후의 변화를 감각적으로 인지하기 위한 장치이자 감각과 구름을 관찰하는 일종의 관측소이며, 어쩌면 시간과 장소에 대한 하나의 허구적 꿈과도 같은 공간입니다.

영화 속에서 작가의 실루엣은 여덟 개의 채색된 방으로 이루어진 조각적 공간, 이 ‘마법의 집’ 안으로 들어갑니다. 각 공간은 추상적인 파노라마로 열리며, 건축은 비를 맞는 피부, 바람에 노출된 몸, 혹은 갑작스러운 열기로 달아오른 신체와 같은 감각적 경험을 환기합니다.

이 팔각형 구조의 집은 또 하나의 마법적 층위로 작동하며, 다양한 기후를 순환시키는 일종의 회전 장치가 됩니다. 여덟 개의 방은 고대의 바람처럼 펼쳐지며, 각각 비, 눈, 용암, 구름, 바람, 진흙, 먼지, 꽃잎이라는 서로 다른 기상 상태를 연출합니다.

First conceived as a painted architectural structure unveiled at the Pinacoteca de São Paulo and now transformed into an experimental film, Meteorium II joins a lineage of films that use exhibitions as their backdrop. Meteorium is a house of a magical kind—less a shelter from weather than an invention for perceiving its variations, an observatory of sensations as much as of clouds, perhaps even a fictional dream of time and place.

In the film, the artist’s silhouette enters the magic house, a sculptural environment of eight painted rooms. The spaces open into abstract panoramas where architecture evokes sensory experiences—like skin exposed to rain or wind, or a body flushed with sudden heat. Conceived as an added layer of magic, the octagonal house becomes a carousel of climates. Eight rooms unfold like the winds of antiquity, each staging a distinct meteorological state: rain, snow, lava, cloud, wind, mud, dust, and petals.
