이 작업은 데이터, 화면, 속도, 그리고 도시 풍경에 대한 탐색이다.

이미지는 한 방향으로 천천히 흐르며 전진하는 거대한 움직임 속에서 전개된다. 그 안에서 파편화되고 해체된 도형들은 각기 독립적인 리듬을 가지며 화면을 채운다.

이 도형들은 끊임없이 생성되고 전송되는 클라우드 데이터의 단위이자, 잠들지 않는 도시의 단면을 구성하는 시각적 파편들이다. 도시와 데이터는 분리된 것이 아니라, 서로를 반영하며 하나의 흐름 속에서

작동한다.

화면 속에서 픽셀이 된 우리는 동시에 사용자이자 데이터 생산자로 존재한다. 우리는 원하는 정보를 찾아 전자적 구름을 가로지르며 이동하고, 그 과정 속에서 또 다른 데이터로 축적된다.

This work is an exploration of data, screens, speed, and cityscapes. The imagery unfolds within a massive movement that flows and advances slowly in a single direction. Within it, fragmented and deconstructed shapes fill the screen, each possessing its own independent rhythm.

These shapes are units of cloud data constantly being generated and transmitted, as well as visual fragments that constitute a cross-section of the city that never sleeps. The city and data are not separate entities; they reflect one another and operate within a single flow.

As we become pixels on the screen, we exist simultaneously as users and data producers. We travel across electronic clouds in search of desired information, and through that process, we are accumulated as further data.

추미림은 디지털 화면의 가장 작은 단위인 정방형의 픽셀과 위성지도를 통해 내려다 본 도시에서 추출한 도형을 작업 모듈로 활용하고 있다. 동시대의 일상적 사용자 환경(interface)을 웹과 도시로 설정하고, 그 표면에서 느껴지는 디지털 노스텔지어와 도시적 감수성을 평면, 설치, 영상 등 다양한 장르를 통해 표현하고자 한다. 현재에는 웹과 도시를 작동시키는 데이터로 그 시선을 확장해 데이터 중심사회의 모습을 살피고 이를 은유-환기 하는 작업을 시도하고 있다. 현재 서울시립미술관 주최 홍콩–상하이 순회전 《키치 앤 팝》(2025)에 참여 중이며, 프리즈 서울 아시아 포커스(2025)에 참여했다. 주요 전시로는 《젊은모색 2023: 미술관을 위한 주석》(국립현대미술관, 과천, 2023), 개인전 《카오스 콩》(백아트, 서울, 2023)이 있으며, 경남도립미술관·울산시립미술관·서울시립미술관 등 다수의 기관 전시에 참여했다. 작품은 국립현대미술관 정부미술은행, 한화드림하우스 등에 소장되어 있으며, 국립현대미술관 고양레지던시 17기, 서울시립미술관 난지창작스튜디오 18기로 활동했다.

Chu Mirim employs square pixels—the smallest unit of the digital screen—and geometric forms extracted from satellite views of cities as modules in her work. She frames contemporary user environments (interfaces) as both the web and the city, and seeks to express the sense of digital nostalgia and urban sensibility perceived on these surfaces through various media, including painting, installation, and video.

More recently, her practice has expanded toward the data that operates both the web and the city, examining the structures of a data-driven society while attempting to evoke and metaphorically reflect its conditions. She is currently participating in Kitsch and Pop (2025), a touring exhibition between Hong Kong and Shanghai organized by the Seoul Museum of Art, and took part in Frieze Seoul Asia Focus (2025). Major exhibitions include Young Korean Artists 2023: Notes for the Museum (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gwacheon, 2023) and her solo exhibition Chaos Kong (BAEK Art, Seoul, 2023), along with numerous institutional exhibitions at Gyeongnam Art Museum, Ulsan Art Museum, and the Seoul Museum of Art. Her works are held in the collections of the Art Bank of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and Hanwha Dreamhouse, among others. She has also participated in the 17th Goyang Residency of MMCA and the 18th Nanji Residency of the Seoul Museum of Art.
