수직의 파동은 모든 존재의 근원인 ‘프리마 마테리아(prima materia)’를 마주하는 신화적 물의 세계로 우리를 초대합니다. 비디오 신시사이저와 3D 애니메이션을 활용한 건축적 비디오 프로젝션인 이 작품은 물을 에너지와 변형의 매개체로 바라봅니다. 가상 공간을 파동과 신호가 끊임없이 흐르는 바다로 재해석하여, 물리적·생태적·사변적 차원을 가로지르는 관계의 힘을 드러냅니다.
Vertical Tide is an invitation to delve into the depths of mythical primordial waters, where, through dreams, visions, and intuition, we encounter the prima materia.
This watery underworld evokes the potential of all living forms and the unconscious forces shaping their evolution. From primordial states to electricity, this work approaches water as a carrier of energy and metamorphosis.
Conceived as an architectural video projection using video synthesizers and 3D animation, Survey of Waves explores virtual space as an ocean of waves, signals, and transformations, revealing a relational force that resonates across physical, ecological, and speculative realms.

사브리나 라테는 캐나다 퀘벡 출신으로 몬트리올을 기반으로 활동하는 작가입니다. 그녀의 작업은 영상, 설치, 조각, 오디오비주얼 퍼포먼스, 프린트, 가상현실 등 다양한 매체를 아우릅니다. 아날로그 영상, 사진, 3D 애니메이션을 결합한 그녀의 작업은 추상과 구상, 풍경과 건축, 그리고 현실과 가상의 경계 사이를 탐구합니다.
그녀의 작품은 파리 퐁피두 센터, 그랑 팔레 이메르시프, 바스티유 오페라, 도쿄 라포레 뮤지엄, 몬트리올 미술관, PHI 센터, 막스 에른스트 미술관, 뉴욕 무빙 이미지 미술관 등 주요 기관에서 전시되었습니다. 또한 파리 게떼 리릭, 상하이 포토그라피스카, 몬트리올 및 뉴욕 아스날 컨템포러리 아트에서 개인전을 개최했습니다.
특히 그녀의 작품은 몬트리올 현대미술관 컬렉션에 소장되어 있으며, 2019년 소비 아트 어워드 후보에 올랐습니다.
Sabrina Ratté is an artist from Quebec based in Montreal. Her work includes videos, installations, sculptures, audio-visual performances, impressions and virtual reality. Through the combination of analog video, photography and 3D animation, her work is located halfway between abstraction and figurative, landscape and architecture, and on the thin line that separates reality from the virtual.
Her work has been exhibited in institutions such as Centre Pompidou in Paris, Grand Palais Immersif, Opéra Bastille Paris, Laforet Museum in Tokyo, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the PHI Center in Montreal, the Max Ernst Museum in Brühl, and the Museum of the Moving Image in New York. She has presented solo exhibitions at Gaîté Lyrique in Paris, Fotografiska in Shanghai, Arsenal Contemporary Art in Montreal and New York. Notably, her work is part of the collection at the Montreal Contemporary Art Museum.
In 2019, she was nominated for the Sobey Art Award.
